Creative Minds at Falmouth Art Gallery
Members of our Creative Minds workshop are delighted to have some of their work displayed in the Community Exhibition at Falmouth Art Gallery which starts next week.
Falmouth Art Gallery and Carrick Mind collaborated and ran workshops for people wanting to explore various creative activities to promote and empower mental health recovery. They met once a month for over a year and enjoyed a wide variety of creative sessions.
Some people with mental health problems have told us that they struggle to put their experiences and emotions into words, but being creative within a supported environment can be a life-changing experience for them. Being creative is known to help mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. Getting involved with the local community connects people and tackles isolation, while nourishing our natural creativity can help build and protect wellbeing and relieve stress. Some of our members that took part said;
“Very enjoyable, I learnt a lot” “It made me feel calm” “Very therapeutic, I enjoyed meeting new people” “Good sense of community”
We are celebrating achievement and experiencing a sense of belonging.
A big thank you to everyone that took part especially Laura Menzies our fantastic facilitator.
Pop along and take a look. We hope you enjoy our work.
